Cookies for breakfast

7 Feb

These are “healthy” cookies. My twins like to feed themselves so I’ve been trying to come up with easy nourishing foods for them to experiment with.

Ingredients:

2 cups quick or old fashioned oats

1/2 cup whole wheat or gluten free flour

2 Tbs Nutritional Yeast (optional- I wanted a protein bump)

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

2 ripe bananas mashed

1/2 cup applesauce

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla (optional)

1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Drizzle of honey- probably 2 tablespoons

Preheat oven to 350 and grease 2 cookie sheets.

Combine dry ingredients except oats, set aside. Combine wet ingredients, add dry to wet, mix and add oats. The batter will be pretty wet.

Drop spoonfuls of batter onto prepared cookie sheets and bake for 14 minutes or so. Do not over bake. The cookies will be moist, spongy and vaguely cake like.

cranberries, raisins, coconut, nuts, all those would be good additions! In my opinion, they needed more “sweet” but since they are for my toddlers I’ll leave it as is. I’m sure this could be tweaked to be better, but for my first attempt they were pretty awesome!

I don’t wear a lot of make up. Not because I don’t like it, but because I A. Don’t really have the time, B. I don’t really leave the house C. The good stuff is pricey (but it does last!)

But… I do want to look nice for hubby. So… I’m making an effort. I do wear moisturizer every day, and chapstick. I saw something fun on pinterest about making your own tinted moisturizer. I used to do this when I was a teenager, regular lotion and some regular foundation. I don’t know why I forgot about it when I started using mineral make up! In the past year and a half I quit using regular moisturizer. My favorite organic one ran out and being pregnant as I was at the time I had no interest in going to buy more so I started using pure coconut oil. Eventually I added a little vitamin E to the mix, tea tree oil if I was a little blemishy. Anyway, I didn’t know if mixing would work, but I decided to mix about a teaspoon or organic mineral make up in my winter hue with a jar of coconut oil/ vit. E mix. Let me tell you, I LOVE it. It’s everything I love about using coconut oil (the benefits are many) and a little coverage. I look purdy. 😉 My skin has a soft dewy glow…I know everything that’s in it and it’s easy. No extra step for make up. I slapped on some lip gloss and suddenly look more polished. Except for my hair. tried to take a picture… but it doesn’t look so great.

Well, I’m happy about it.

I also painted my toe nails red. No picture. I realized I didn’t shave off the hobbit hair. oops and ew. 😉 I did paint trouble #2’s toe nail because he kept trying to get into the polish.

What I’m wearing.

I’ve seen bloggers do this before and it’s kind of fun. Maybe I’ll start a series to showcase some of the silliness I’ve been putting on my body and wearing in public. 😉

Head: Momma made gnomey hat. Elizabeth Zimmerman pattern, Peace Fleece wool.

Torso: TJMax finds, shirt and workout hoodie with thumb holes

Bottom: Guess and Abercrombie nightmare, Frankenstein skirt (Momma upcycled)

Feet (not shown cause I was in the house): Fuzzy fuzzy gray fold over Uggs. SOOO warm.

Also not show, were the two babies I had in the ergo carriers whilst shopping. One front, one back. 🙂
